 KHMER EMPIRE :

The Khmer Empire from the 9 century AD to 13 century AD by King Jayvarman II, a founder in 802 AD and King Jayvarman VII, the last famous king of Khmer Empire end of 12 century AD and  13 century AD of which covering to whole Thailand, Laos, Prei Nokor ( Saigon, HoChi Minh city) included the Kingdom of Kambuja today. After 13 century AD Khmer Empire was seperated to different independent countries and in the  Khmer Rouge or Red Khmer, everything was destroyed.
 
The Khmer country has several names after independent in 1953 AD from France colony :
. The Kingdom of Kampuchea ( under the Raja Niyum Regime from 1953-1970 AD),
. The Khmer Republic ( under the Lon Nol Regime 1970-1975 AD),
. Democratic Kampuchea (under the Pol Pot Genocide Regime from 1975-1979 AD),
. The People’s Republic Of Kampuchea (from 1979-1989 AD),
. The State of Kampuchea ( from 1989-1993 AD),
. The Kingdom Of Cambodia ( from 1993 until now).
 
Elected Period after civil war from 1979-1993 AD:
. The first election in 1993 AD run by UNTAC, the Prince Norodom Ranarith was the first Prime Minister and the Samdech Hun Sen as the second Prime Minister. Then the Prince Norodom Ranarith lost power after the civil war in 5-6 July,1997 .
 
. The second election in 1998, third election in 2003, fourth election in 2008, The Samdech Hun Sen as the Prime Minister from Cambodian People’s Party (CPP).
 
Nowadays, the King Norodom Sihamoni according to the constitution of the country, he is the King of the Kingdom of Cambodia forever and the Samdech Hun Sen as the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
 
The Kingdom of Cambodia has practiced democracy, free market, free worship.
